I. Our Place as God’s Children (Galatians 4:1–2)
   A. Understanding Who We Are
      1. We were once like slaves, but now we are God’s heirs (children who inherit).
      2. Before maturity, children were guided by guardians and managers.
   B. God’s Perfect Timing
      1. The Father set an appointed time for us to receive our inheritance.
      2. Until then, being “under the law” showed our need for God’s plan.
II. God Gives Us His Spirit (Galatians 4:3–7)
   A.The Gift of Being God’s Children
      1. God sent His Son to free us.
      2. God also sent His Spirit to live in our hearts, adopting us into His   family.
   B. Confidence in Our Identity
      1. Because of the Spirit, we can call God “Abba, Father” (like saying “Dad”).
      2. We are no longer slaves, but God’s children and heirs through Him.
III. Staying Faithful to the Gospel (Galatians 4:8–20)
   A. Remembering Where We Came From
      1. Before Christ, we were trapped by powerless things.
      2. There’s a danger in going back to that slavery.
   B. Holding Firm in Faith
      1. Paul worries about their spiritual growth.
      2. He urges them to hold on to the true gospel and not be led astray.
